Ahead of this Saturday’s HALLOWEEN installment of RED EYE at the fabulous Village 512 in East London, we caught up with Jesus, the man behind the night to tell us why we should get spooky this weekend.
Red Eye’s back in Dalston this Saturday. For those who haven’t been before, describe the vibe.
It’s fun, it is magic, it is friendly, and it is electronic. Welcome you by our drag hostesses Lola McQueen, Nikita Nipone and Dramala Tina; they will make you smile, pose with them for the pictures and dance with you all night. In the background, you will have the best Electronic music to cheer you up and take you on a trip if your shoes are made for dancing.
Who’s behind the decks this time around?
Our Resident DJ, Cecilia Ena, will play the Melodic House of the night; Tate Tosto will debut as a DJ guest, warming up the crowd, and myself, the captain Jesus RedSoul, will bring the Progressive and Techno style. Our other DJ Resident Alan Mathew won’t be with us this time.
Should we be prepared for some frights?
Absolutely, our hostesses will be frighting you around with scary freebies, sweets, and more surprises. We will have some decorations to get you in the mood for Halloween
What’s been a highlight of your time at Village 512?
We have had a few highlights since last November, nearly a year. We had a few spectacular shows from Manu Andreo singing House classics and outstanding performances from Black Butterfly dancers. How can I forget our Safety Flight Instructions live performance from Lola McQueen and Morgana, letting us know how to prepare yourself for the flight, and the performance from the Saxophonist Venn Smyth. I also remembered our raffle of £50-bar tap—so many highlights.
If money was no object, what would a dream version of Red Eye look like?
Wow, it will be a big venue with a big stage for performances, dancers and shows. A mix of the old Headkandi with live instruments performances and singers, and the 2000s Ibiza summer parties, with fantastic music, people dancing and freebies for everyone. But for now, I plan to have a Boat party next summer and see where 2024 takes us.
