Pierce Me London, a Body Piercing Studio located in the heart of Covent Garden, affirmed their support for the transgender and non-binary community by signing the TransFriendly pledge, a series of commitments written by transgender people to help businesses support the transgender and non-binary community. By signing the pledge, Pierce Me London aims to be a welcoming and affirming environment for transgender and non-binary customers.
Raph from Pierce Me London, explained “Our Piercing department is Queer owned, and one of our resident Body Piercer is Trans! Everyone working at the studio is there to offer the best service they can, regardless of our customer’s gender, sexuality, beliefs or colour of skin.”.
Roni from Pierce Me London, added “Being Transfriendly is simply about being a decent human being”.
The National Transgender Discrimination Survey showed that 53% of transgender and non-binary people were verbally harassed or disrespected in a place of public accommodation, including hotels, restaurants, buses, airports and even government agencies, so creating transgender and non-binary supporting environments is really important, and the affirmative action of Pierce Me London will mean that transgender and non-binary people in London can now count on another business to support them and affirm their gender identity.
TransFriendly added “We’re proud to count Pierce Me London amongst the businesses that have chosen to affirm transgender and non-binary people in London. We welcome applications from more local businesses who’d like to sign the TransFriendly pledge on our website, www.transfriend.ly.”
Customers can view Pierce Me London’s TransFriendly profile on www.transfriend.ly, where they can also see feedback and reviews from transgender customers, and other transgender and non-binary supporting businesses in and around London.
