Ten Best LGBTQ+ Cabaret Events: June 2024

Our very own cabaret aficionado Jason Reid peruses the upcoming cabaret events every month so you don’t have to, and picks his cream of the crop for Gay London Life.

The best month of the year is HERE! Not only is Pride season upon us, but it’s also my birthday month. Much to celebrate! So without further ado, let’s check out my pick of this month’s cabaret events…

Cocktails & Cabaret

Cocktails and Cabaret at Ku Lounge
Every Tuesday, from 7.30pm

Kick back, relax and enjoy a first-rate cabaret show and divine cocktails at this plush venue which is located above Ku Bar in the heart of Chinatown. RuPaul’s Drag Race star Vicki Vivacious performs every Wednesday. A great night out!

30 Lisle St, WC2H 7BA
Tube: Leicester Square

Miss Penny

Miss Penny’s Cards, Cabaret and Cash at Halfway to Heaven
Every Wednesday, from 8pm

A midweek cabaret night that has it all. Songs and comedy from the absolutely brilliant Miss Penny, plus games in which you can walk away with cold hard cash, bar tab and more. And the cherry on top? Entry is free all night. If I’m in town on a Wednesday evening and want some camp escapism, I make a beeline for Halfway, and I always end up enjoying myself. Check out my interview with Miss Penny in the print edition of the month’s Gay London Life.

7 Duncannon Street, WC2N 4JF
Tube: Charing Cross

Thirsty Thursday
Thirsty Thursdays with Sandra at Admiral Duncan
Every Thursday, from 9pm

There’s a trend recently of people using the word  icon and legend at the drop of a hat, and, I must say, it’s become a real bugbear of mine. An icon/legend is someone who has been at the top of their profession for decades and is still performing to packed out venues of people who love them – like Sandra. This night is filled with cheeky humour and uplifting live music from Queen S. Free entry all night.

54 Old Compton Street, W1D 4UD
Tube: Leicester Square

Queerdos Cabaret at The Divine
Friday 7th, from 7.30pm

Headed and produced by drag dynamo  Rhys’ Pieces who I’ve always been a fan of largely because they have a palpable love for their art and captivating performance stye. There will also be performances from Asher Fynn, Outskirt, Mel Anin, Camille Leon, Hot Girl Xander. Advance tickets from £6.

33 Stoke Newington Road, N16 8BJ
Overground: Dalston Kingland

Karla BearCabaret with Karla Bear and Lady Imelda at Two Brewers
Saturday 8th, from 8pm

Accomplished drag cabaret vocalists Karla Bear and Lady Imelda take to the stage of this longstanding drag den for a night of live music, big and fabulous numbers, and sharp comedy. With any luck, Lady Imelda will be adorned in one of her trademark dramatic gowns. Free entry before 9pm, £8 until 10pm, £9 after 10pm

114 Clapham High Street, SW4 7UJ
Tube: Clapham North

Drag Kingo
Los Reyes del Barrio Present Drag Kingo: A Drag King Bingo and Cabaret at The Glitch
Friday 14th, from 7.30pm

The world of drag bingo is dominated by queens so it’s refreshing to see the kings and things getting in on the action. This aspect of cabaret has really taken off recently because fun is front and centre, and we’ve all been in dire need of that since the turn of the decade. Drag Kingo is fronted by Mr Later Mater with special guest Spiky Mikey who will both be performing amongst the games.

134 Lower Marsh, SE1 7AE
Tube: Waterloo

Miss Moppe

Miss Moppe at The Old Ship
Saturday 22nd, from 9pm

A wonderful way to end the weekend. Drag Idol winner Miss Moppe is a stunning vocalist who puts on a great show, and this traditional east end pub is habitually warm and welcoming. A marriage made in heaven. Free entry all night.

17 Barnes Street, E14 7NW
DLR: Limehouse

Drag Fest at Arch Clapham
Sunday 23rd, from 2pm

An entire day of drag fun in the sun (weather permitting), which is part of Arch’s Festivall Street Party (21st-23rd), starring Chanel N°5, Queera Lynn, Monroe, Tayris Mongardi, Miss Gendered and more. Goes till 10pm.

Arch 642, Voltaire Road, SW4 6DH
Tube: Clapham North

Time Of The Month
That Time of the Month at Zodiac Bar
Friday 28th, from 7pm

This will be a fun pre-Pride night out at one of London’s most hospitable LGBTQ+ venues. Expect mayhem and madness, music and laughter from drag duo Eileen Eiffell and Solero Summers. I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: Zodiac is centrally located and very easy to get to. Just a few minutes mince from Warren Street tube station. Recently, I hotfooted it from Soho to Zodiac in approximately 15 mins. So you’ve really got no excuse not to visit Jade, David and the gorgeous team. Free entry till 9pm, £5 after.

119 Hampstead Road, NW1 3EE
Tube: Euston/Warren Street

Pride Cabaret
Pride Cabaret at Halfway to Heaven
Saturday 29th, from 3pm

The cabaret pride party to end all cabaret pride parties. Halfway is slap bang in the middle of central London where everything will be happening, and just around the corner from the Pride in London main stage in Trafalgar Square. Halfway’s cabaret cave will play host to shows from Son Of a Tutu, Lola Lasagne, Billie Gold, Miss Penny, A Tiny Gentleman, Chamonix Aspen and many more. Hosted by Mary Mac, Mrs Moore, Karla Bear, Mrs Moore, Woe Adams. Free entry all day, but be prepared to queue!
