SCENE DJ INTERVIEW: We catch up with Beat Retreat’s DJ Paul Heron

Ahead of this Sunday’s launch of the fabulous day club, Beat Retreat. We catch up with an absolute scene legend! DJ Paul Heron who will be spinning his magic this Sunday.

Hey You’re playing the first-ever Beat Retreat. Give us a teaser of what to expect.
Yeah I’m super excited to be involved, I love  the venue and i think it’s about time there was a fresh new party in South London! You can expect a fun day time party, in a fantastic space, with disco vibes & sexy, funky beats and vocals and lovely crowd. My partner is celebrating his birthday down there this week also so I already know it’s going to be a fun party filled with some lovely people.
What sort of gems have you got on your USB stick for it?
Some nice vibey bits like…
-Cerrone: A Part of You (Club Mix)
-S.O.U.L S.Y.S.T.E.M: It’s Gonna Be A Lovely Day (Kenny Summit Remix)
-The Martinez Brothers/ Eliza Rose: Pleasure Peak (Original Dub)
Solardo/ Mandalo: Lemon & Lime (Extended mix)
Don’t want to give them all away,  so you will just have to come to the party to hear the rest 😜
How do you find playing during the day differs from nighttime?
Well especially on a Sunday I think it’s the sensible option, you can party and have fun with your friends and still have time to recover for Monday morning!
The Prince of Wales is a great venue too, especially the roof terrace…
I love roof terrace vibes and watching the sun setting as the music plays, whilst people have fun, so I’m hoping for one of those beautiful blue skied autumnal days!
Aside from being at Beat Retreat obviously, what does the perfect Sunday look like to you?
It usually starts with a lay-in, then this Sunday we will be going for a lovely lunch with friends before the party.  So that’s my usual vibe, lay in, good food and a few drinks and fun vibes with friends. Sunday Funday vibes!
