Our pick of the Ten Best LGBTQ+ Cabaret Events: February 2023

Our very own cabaret aficionado Jason Reid peruses the upcoming cabaret events every month so you don’t have to, and picks his cream of the crop for Gay London Life.

Cabaret is rich in variety, and here in London we are truly spoiled. There is an abundance of events all year round offering something for everyone. And I know all to well how hard artists, producers and venues work to put on shows and ensure the LGBTQ+ community is at the heart of what they do. It’s important to reiterate that from time to time. Now let’s check out what February has in store…

High On Heels at Freedom Bar Soho

Every Wednesday, from 10pm

At this midweek glitzy affair, you’ll find only the best drag and divas the West End has to offer. Fabulous shows in a stunning setting, plus cocktails aplenty. What’s more, entry is free! Just take Thursday off, you deserve it!

Cocktails and Cabaret at Ku Bar

Kick back in the Ku Lounge which is situated above Ku Bar in Chinatown, and sip on some of the best cocktails in town while top-rate cabaret artists entertain you every Thursday. You can expect to see the likes of Luna Cortez, Chanel N°5, Poppycock and Candy Heals, who all know how to put on quintessentially dazzling shows! Showtime is 9pm, but arrive early in order to secure the best seats in the house. The ideal window to the weekend.

There’s a need for some fresh LGBTQ+ nights in Soho, and this one sounds like a lot of fun which is why it caught my eye. Also, the name is excellent. What is wonderful about Martha is her genuine warmth which is illustrated through good-natured repartee with a cheeky edge, and lashings of gloriously camp singalongs. And where better to see Martha, than in the venue that is one of the shimmering jewels of LGBTQ+ cabaret in the capital.
