March has arrived, the nights are finally getting lighter, and we’re so ready for those outside pints. Spring is teasing the city, and the scene is already heating up, so consider this your official nudge to get up, get out and grab the March Edition of Gay London Life!
Front and centre this month is Trans Mission, our powerful cover feature spotlighting the incredible benefit concert landing at OVO Arena Wembley on 11 March. Led by Olly Alexander and backed by a jaw-dropping line-up including Adam Lambert, Sugababes, Christine and the Queens and more, this is pop with purpose and one of the most important nights in the LGBTQI calendar this year.
Inside the issue, our In The Know pages are doing what they do best, keeping you ahead of the conversation. From the long-awaited reopening of Camden institution The Black Cap to Max Hovey’s provocative new book No Fats, No Fems, there is plenty to get stuck into this month.
Our Going Out section is absolutely stacked. Honey Honey makes its debut at Electrowerkz with a kindness first, sweat later energy, while Eagle London continues its winning streak with Athena, Bear Bash and the ever joyful 80:26 (you’ll have to read us to find out about the name-change)!. Over in Soho, Kiki Snatch is bringing full drag chaos to Ku Lounge, and Freedom Bar keeps Thursdays loud with POP. In short, if you are bored this month, that is entirely on you.
Theatre lovers are very well fed too. Thomas Magill returns with another sharp and knowing Life of a Luvvie, guiding us through award season buzz and the shows worth your time and ticket money. Expect strong opinions, excellent taste and productions to add straight to your diary.
We also take a powerful pause for Trans Day of Visibility, with Alexis Blake delivering a heartfelt and necessary reflection on why visibility and solidarity matter now more than ever. It is personal, political and exactly the kind of voice our community needs right now.
Meanwhile, Topher Taylor is back in full voice with a brilliantly relatable spring reset in Topher Talks, reminding us all that sometimes the real seasonal clean is emotional, digital and long overdue. Consider yourself gently but firmly called out.
Elsewhere in the issue, you will find fetish, cabaret, theatre, nightlife and plenty of familiar faces Out and About across the capital, because London never sits still and neither do we.
