MA1 The Bunker: It’s time to bunker down for Winter

East London’s basement of debauchery has some pretty exciting stuff happening down in its darkened depths this winter

The way we see it, there are two ways you can approach this upcoming winter. You can choose to stay inside, sit against the radiators and wait for the ten minutes of heating a day you’ve permitted yourself, or, alternatively, you can head out to one of London’s raunchy hideaways that are known to get hot and steamy throughout the year – somewhere like Bunker Bar, which has a packed calendar full of super-sexy events.

Here are just a few we’re looking forward to over the next few weeks…

Disco Disrobed

We’ve all had that feeling ahead of a big night out when you open the wardrobe doors and viscerally loathe all the clobber you’ve accumulated over the past decade. The simple solution to that all-too-common dilemma is to go to Disco Disrobed where clothing is optional and you can just wear your birthday suit on the dance floor – although underwear, jocks and gym kit are OK if you’re a little timid. Regular DJs Marcus Stones and D-Viant play classics and remixes from across the decades, but there are plenty of dark corners, private booths and a video room to explore as well.

Every second Saturday of the month (next date: Saturday 12th November), 10pm-4am

Making its debut down in Bunker Bar this coming Saturday, Naacho is the brainchild of husband-and-husband team Shan and Saif, and is aimed at the capital’s large LGBTQ+ South Asian community. DJs will be spinning Bollywood tunes and taking requests in case you want to hear something you’d never imagine in a cruise club. As usual, the full labyrinth of dark rooms and glory holes in the club will be available for anybody who wants to use them, but you’re just as welcome to hang out and mingle, clothed or completely nekkid.

Saturday 22nd September, 10pm-4am, naacho.co.uk

Club XXX Leather

While a lot of the parties down in Bunker Bar have a loose and relaxed dress code, there are a few nights that are for those with a specific fetish – just like Club XXX Leather. It’s pretty strict on the door and only punters wearing full leather, chaps and biker kit will be allowed in. Not even harnesses or more fashion-orientated leather is permitted. This pickiness means that the atmosphere down on the dancefloor and in the cruising spaces is sizzling hot and the closest thing you’ll get to the full Tom of Finland fantasy.

First Friday of the month (next date: Friday 4th November), 10pm-4am

Another one from the fellas behind Club XXX, Blackout is a slightly simpler affair. There’s no dress code per se, but a bit of effort is always appreciated – stick a harness or a bit of rubber on, why not? The lights will be turned down a little more than usual and the music is a bit harder than on other nights, which makes for a charged energy that is irresistibly hot. Those who like S&M or slave/master play are particularly welcome. There’s also normally a different club night that runs on until the early hours afterwards, so you don’t need to head anywhere else once it finishes.

Every Saturday, 6pm-10pm

Bunker Bar, 217-221 City Rd, EC1V 1JN, Nearest Station: Old Street, bunkerbar.co.uk
