There’s something quite delicious about theatre kids off-duty. Less polite applause, more chaos. And that’s exactly what LUVVIE is promising as it lands at The Two Brewers for one big, unapologetically queer night out.
Set for Friday 8th May, LUVVIE: Gods & Monsters isn’t just another cabaret night. It’s being billed as the first party created specifically for queer theatre-makers and their allies, a space to swap the audition room for the dancefloor, and maybe flirt a little while you’re at it.
A night built for the industry, without the industry energy
LUVVIE has a clear mission. Get the community together, strip away the pressure, and let people actually enjoy each other’s company. No casting stress, no polite networking chats that go nowhere, just a room full of people who love performance and aren’t afraid to show it.
Named after its patron Stephen Fry, the night leans into theatricality in the best way. Think big energy, big personalities, and a touch of the dramatic.
Cabaret, chaos, and a very late finish
Running from 7pm right through to 4am, this is not one of those “pop in for a drink” situations. You’ll want stamina.
The night kicks off with a cabaret line-up that already includes Josh Sanchez, Justin Elizabeth Sayre and Fempath, with more names still to drop. Expect performances that swing from polished to playful, with a crowd that’s fully up for it.
Beyond the stage, there’s a fundraising auction packed with prizes that lean firmly into theatre-world fantasy. A year’s membership to Spotlight, signed books from Stephen Fry, acting classes from Queer Theatre, and a few surprises still under wraps.
Dress like you mean it
The theme, Gods & Monsters, gives you plenty to work with. Divine, chaotic, a bit unhinged if you fancy it. No one’s saying you have to turn a full look, but you’ll definitely get more out of the night if you do.
Only 150 tickets are available, so it’s set to feel packed in the best possible way. The kind of crowd where everyone’s either on stage, wants to be on stage, or has dated someone who is.
