James Barr and Friend of Dorothy Are Bringing a Big Night of Queer Comedy to Borough

A welcome drink, a gift bag and four very funny people. Friend of Dorothy has Thursday 17 September looking rather good.

If your week needs a laugh, head to The Ministry in Borough for Friend of Dorothy’s LGBTQ+ Comedy Night. James Barr is headlining, Joe Sutherland and Ciara O’Connor are joining him on stage, and Kate Martin is in charge of keeping the evening moving.

James is the award-winning comedian and co-host of A Gay and a NonGay, with a knack for turning candid queer stories into comedy that hits close to home. Joe Sutherland brings his gloriously dry take on life and pop culture, while Ciara O’Connor, an LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year finalist who has written for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, rounds out the bill. Hosting duties fall to Kate Martin, whose quick wit should keep everyone on their toes, comedians included.

Friend of Dorothy is putting on the night in association with Not A Phase, with fundraising for the trans-led charity, which supports trans+ adults through awareness, social projects and funding initiatives. Come with mates or turn up solo. There’s time to mingle with the comedians and other guests afterwards, too.

Doors open at 7pm, with a welcome drink and gift bag on arrival. The show starts at 7.30pm, and tickets are £10. Frankly, we’ve spent more than that on a drink that wasn’t funny at all.
