Brighton & Hove Pride Announces Cancellation of Parade, Festival and Village Party for 2021

In a shock announcement this morning. The organisers of Brighton and Hove Pride have had to cancel the weekend-long event, in a statement released.

“Dear Friends
We are heartbroken to have to announce the cancellation of Brighton & Hove Pride’s Community Parade, Pride Village Party and Pride Festival on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th August 2021.
The need for community has never been stronger and Brighton & Hove Pride is one of Europe’s biggest Pride Festivals attracting thousands of people from across the UK to attend multiple events across the city including the Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade.
Delivering Pride requires an all year-round planning cycle working closely with our partner agencies and, while the vaccine rollout continues to be successful, the many uncertainties that need to be resolved to safely deliver mass gatherings and the complexities of organising multiple Pride events across pour city are impossible to achieve in the time we have, so based on the best information available to us at this time we are heartbroken to have to cancel for a second year. We cannot risk the health and safety of Pride visitors, residents and the hundreds of staff and volunteers that help deliver Pride.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR CURRENT TICKET HOLDERS.
All ticket holders have 3 options:

  1. Roll Over – We know 2022 is likely to sell out, so you may wish to roll over tickets to 2022 to secure your place for next year and insure against any price increases
  2. Donate the face value of your ticket to the Brighton Rainbow Fund to support the year-round essential work of local charities and community groups
  3. Apply for a refund of the face value of your ticket

We will continue our plans for smaller in-person satellite pop-up community and cultural events throughout the summer and autumn as part of our cultural programme that can run within COVID-safe guidelines as well as a programme of online events following on from the success of last year. Sign up for our Newsletter and we’ll let you know more.

As ever, a huge thank you to all of you for your support, patience and positivity. We’re so, truly sorry that we won’t be able to come together this year but, rest assured, we will be back stronger and better in 2022!”
