Our lovely friends over at Arch Clapham have been making some big decisions about their venue and a transformation is underway.
Here’s what they had to say..
“Hello, gorgeous people, It’s been 15 months since we first announced Arch, and what a whirlwind it’s been.
We opened Arch to be a venue where memories could be made – and that is exactly what the last 13 months have been. A magical mix of Drag, Dance, Live Music, Comedy, Brunches, Sunday Roasts, Quizzes, Movies, and… even Pride. Our first birthday on December 2 only reminded us of how honoured we truly are to be able to operate a venue for our beautiful LGBTQ+ community.
We can’t thank you enough for turning out in force and with so much love in support of our opening, right through to all our events. A year’s worth of memories already and that is all down to you!
Now, it is all about to change. Throughout the Pandemic, hospitality has been dealt blow after blow, suffering lockdowns, isolation, and ever-changing restrictions, whilst at the same time having to deal with complications and cost increases brought about as a direct result of Brexit. Independent restaurants all over the country have been forced to close because of massive price increases in the cost of food, combined with availability issues, staff shortages resulting in ever-increasing kitchen operating costs. As if all this wasn’t enough, we now have the energy crisis, where prices have tripled in the past three months.
Whilst we were incredibly proud to have been able to offer an exceptional dining experience to our customers – it has not come without its challenges. The cost increases in the food industry costs have at times been crippling.
Simply put we need to make sure we are able to offer you a venue where you can continue to make magical memories. For us to be able to do that and bring you the best experience possible we need to change.
After many hours of debate and number crunching, we have decided that to do so we need to simplify our food offering at ARCH. All good things must come to an end, so it is with much sadness that we have to wave goodbye to our current evening dining experience, Saturday Brunch & Sunday Roast. We hope you understand this has not been a decision taken lightly – but a necessity in order to keep Arch open as an LGBTQ+ safe space without the confines of a large-offering kitchen in an uncertain climate. Our food, menu, and venue will continue to operate as is until Sunday 20 February. At 6 pm on Sunday 20 February, we will close. We will then re-open on Friday 25 February. When we re-open – you will be welcomed to a new chapter of Arch. The next level, Arch Reimagined.
We will announce more on what exactly is coming, very soon. But know, we are very excited to start a new journey with you. We’ve come through fighting in the Pandemic, and you bet we’ll be giving you: Bigger events. Breath-taking entertainment. Beautiful memories.
The best is yet to come, and your new ARCH will reflect our glorious return to a more normal way of living.
We love you Clapham, and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for being on this journey with us. It is a gift and honour we do not take lightly. Now, to all the lovers of our current menus: you have three Saturday Brunches + Sunday Roasts left! We promise they‘re as mouth-watering as ever. Welcome to the next chapter.”
