Calling all Gaymers! Its the SLAYSTATION MASTERBALL!

Whether you were obsessed with the cartoon and swapping trading cards back in the day, or are addicted to your Nintendo Switch, all your nerdy dreams are about to come true this month. The chance to party with Dragonite or Squirtle your knickers is almost upon us as the UK’s first- ever Pokémon themed show to the stage of the Clapham Grand!

Having gained a cult following on TikTok, and amassing over a million views with their dazzling costumed performances, the team at SlayStation are preparing to pay homage to their favourite animated creatures.

Founded at the end of last year, SlayStation is a unique evening that is sure to tickle your Charizard. It’s a cabaret meets gaming meets club night which provides audience members with a new take on gaming each month. They have been heavily lauded for their inclusive casting, original ideas, and community approach, creating a welcoming space where revellers are encouraged to let their freak flags fly.

At the helm is creator and producer Velvet Caveat who’s backed up by a talented, all-trans technical team making this a queer event for queer people.

She told us: “I can’t wait to start next year by hosting our biggest event yet alongside the hilarious Loose Willis, a resident performer at Pecs and host of Fist Club. SlayStation has only existed for a year but we have already amassed a cult following and have gone viral on TikTok multiple times with over a million views”.

“I think this really shows the importance of this niche and having these spaces for nerds of  all backgrounds. As a trans woman gaming helped me express my identity and have agency over who I am.”

Headlining the dazzling event will be two faces familiar to every queer person who hasn’t been living under a rock for the past few years. Dakota Schiffer from the recent RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season four will be holding court, alongside Drag Race season eight star Kim Chi. The dolled-up Brit and fan-favourite Korean queen will be unleashing a world of camp chaos on the crowd, alongside Miss Terri Boxx. Mz Chi shared: “Pokémon is arguably the most profitable and successful character franchise in the world and I’ve been obsessed with the universe since the very beginning. “I’m happy to unleash my inner nerd with fellow Pokémon lovers and have an exciting time in London! Thank you to SlayStation for making all of this happen!”

The meticulously curated drag show is happening for one night, and one night only and will
feature themed performances, games, and even an audience costume prize. So, if you’re coming along you better start game-planning your cosplay. Come celebrate your favourite Pokémon, or Digimon if you’re that way inclined. They won’t judge!

SlayStation – The Master Ball is on Saturday,
21st January at The Clapham Grand,
21-25, St John’s Hill, London SW11 1TT.
